George R. Kishpaugh Born May 23, 1918 in Newton, NJ Left school in 1933 Highest grade completed-7 yrs. Grammer In New Brunswick, NJ He enrolled in the Civilian Conservation Corps Aug. 12, 1935 in Hackettstown, NJ (at age 17) (His father, Roscoe B. Kishpaugh, operated a shoe repair shop on S. 2nd St. in Millville, NJ until he died, Oct. 25, 1938) He married Roberta Newcomb Wiegand on Feb 1, 1941 in Millville, NJ From 1940 to 1942 he worked at the Millville Iron Works in Millville, NJ as a truck driver. He drove & serviced a ten ton truck with rack body & 5-speed forward. He was also an Acetylene-Burner Operator, setting up and operating oxy-acetylene-burning equipment to perform metal cutting operations. He was inducted into the U.S. Army Dec. 9, 1942, starting active service Dec. 16, 1942. He served as a medical technician in World War II in Bertrichamps, France and served with the 397th Infrantry his decorations & citations included .. American Theater Ribbon European African Middle Eastern Ribbon Good Conduct Medal Purple Heart Victory Medal and The Medical Badge He was honorably discharged Dec. 27, 1945 He was a member of The American Legion, Nabb-Leslie Post, #82, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Bush-Kerrick Post # 2169.(starting in 1945) Both in Millville, NJ (Sometime before 1952 they moved to 829 N. 3rd St. then to 128 Brandriff Ave. around 1957) He worked for Armstrong Cork Co. and then Wheaton Glass Co. in Millville, NJ for over 25 years He was a member of The Glass Blowers Association, union Local 7, as a Journeyman Operator His greatest love outside of family was fishing and being on the water with his boat, although he couldn't swim. Most of the boats he owned were named 'Jolene' for his daughters.
