Lakey, age 77, of Collinwood, Tenn., will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb 6, 2000, at Shackelford Funeral Home chapel in Collinwood with Ernest Rich and Glen Richardson officiating. Interment will follow services in Memorial Gardens with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be 3-9 p.m. Saturday, Feb 5, 2000 and 9 a.m. until service time Sunday, Feb 6, 2000, at Shackelford Funeral Home in Collinwood, Tenn. Mr. Lakey was born in Wayne Co., Tenn., Feb 6 1922. He died on Friday, Feb 4, 2000 at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence, Ala., after an extended illness. Mr Lakey was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Mattie White Lakey; sons, Dwight Lakey and David Lakey; and a brother, Copeland Lakey. He was retired from General Motors in Detroit after 30 years of service as a craftsman die engineer. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S.Navy. He was a member of the Collinwood Masonic Lodge No. 702, the Al Menah Temple of Nashville, and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was a member of McGlamery Community Church in Collinwood. Survivors include his wife, Ruby Rich Lakey of Collinwood; daughter, della Griffin of Tucker, Ga.; step-daughter, Wanda Butler, Lawrenceburg, Tenn.; and brother, Bill Lakey, Decatur,Ala.; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and three step-great grandchildren.
