Preface 23 Jan 2026 "And you may ask yourself-Well...How did I get here?" "Once in a Lifetime" 1980 David Byrne Talking Heads "If we don't care about our past we can't have very much hope for our future." Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis The past, the present, and the future are all equally important. Without any one of them we would have nothing. An uncountable number of events had to fall exactly into place for you to be here. If, for example, your great-grandparents had conceived your grandfather (or grandmother) on a different day (or even a different hour) you most likely would never have existed. The probability of any one of us being born is miniscule. Everyone should consider themselves most fortunate. Genesis of "Sands of Time". I began doing genealogy research in 1974 or 1975 while working in Washington, DC. A colleague named Sheri Woodward got me started in genealogy and I've been hooked ever since. I began by spending my lunch hours at the National Archives a couple of blocks from where I worked searching through the census reports. From time to time, as I gathered more and more data, I would mail copies of all my data to aunts, uncles and cousins. Eventually I published a paper back book named "Descent of Gold" in 1983 ... and yes, the front cover and back cover of the book were gold-colored heavy paper. "Descent of Gold" consisted of 243 pages and mentioned 2,405 distinct individuals. The next rendition of our genealogy was in 1993, a hard-cover book named "Sands of Time". This version mentioned 5,785 distinct individuals. The next version was called "Sands of Time II" in 2008. "Sands of Time II" was only produced in a digitized form because of its size. "Sands of Time II" mentioned 30,917 distinct individuals. This current version of our genealogy, called "Sands of Time II - KILLE" and again only available in a digitized version, mentions 6,398 distinct individuals. Purpose of this data. (1) It's a tribute to our ancestry and how we got here. (2) I wanted to make available to members of the family as much information as possible in order to assist them in learning about our family's history. (3) It's an attempt to bring together as much pertinent information as possible into one place in order to assist other researchers. Limitations of this data. Much of this information was received from living members of the various families and from other researchers. In these cases I have not verified the information in many instances and proving the factual basis of the enclosed data is left as an exercise for those who would like to perform further research. The only thing that has been verified by me is my direct line, i.e, Family Groups 0.312, 0.338, 1.0, 2.0 & 3.0, 6.0 & 7.0, 7.4, 12.0 & 13.0, 14.0 & 15.0, 24.0 & 25.0, 26.0 & 27.0 and 33.0 & 34.0, 35.0 & 36.0, 37.0 & 38.0, 39.0 & 40.0, 43.0 & 44.0, 45.0 & 46.0, 62.0 & 63.0, 64.0 & 65.0, 66.0 & 67.0, 68.0 & 69.0, 70.0 & 71.0, 72.0 & 73.0, 120.0 & 121.0, 122.0 & 123.0, 131.0 & 132.0, 133.0 & 134.0, 135.0 & 136.0, 137.0 & 138.0, 139.0 & 140.0, 141.0 & 142.0, 144.0 & 145.0, 146.0 & 147.0, 148.0 & 149.0, 150.0 & 151.0, 152.0 & 153.0, 160.0 & 161.0, 162.0 & 163.0, 164.0 & 165.0, 172.0 & 173.0, 174.0 & 175.0, 180.0 & 181.0, 182.0 & 183.0, 184.0 & 185.0, 186.0 & 187.0, 188.0, 189.0 & 190.0, 191.0 & 192.0, 193.0 Take even my verification with a grain of salt. Re-verify for yourself. Scope of this data. In the beginning I started with myself, then went back in my direct ancestry as far as I could. Later I went forward with the descendants of cousins as best as I could. It is a work in progress. Acknowledgements of indebtedness. See the Bibliography.txt file.
