From John D Kille 21 Oct 2000: BEGIN Kille Origin in Netherlands In an older Webster dictionary I found that kille is listed as being Middle Dutch and a word that means watercourse...Also in the early 1700s, at least one Kille family was living in the Netherlands...It seems like a possible origin...My late cousin, Frank R. Kille (1904-1993) speculated that our branch came over from England, as the early New Jersey ancestors belonged to the Society of Friends (Quakers). The Kille name is indeed found in England in 1400s...but more likely of Scandinavian origin, arriving in England around the time of the 1066 invasions...Seems like the more recent branches to this country were either from Norway or Germany. In a document created in Dec 1979 by Frank R. Kille and contributed to the Manuscript Collection in the New Jersey State Library in Trenton, New Jersey the author traces the Kille surname back to England with Viking roots. The surname appeared in England as early as the year 1066. This researcher traced back from a John Kille who died in 1730 in Northampton Township, Burlington County, New Jersey. This researcher described John Kille as the first member of the Kille family recorded in the colonies. END DECKELMANN was (and still is) in Obernburg, Bavaria, Germany for several generations.
