A few days before the sale, the Bayer Brewing Company, which was the last firm to operate the brewery, attempted to remove the machinery from the plant to another state and already had some of it loaded on railcars at the Hankins station when the property was attached and an injunction served. The brewery was owned and operated for many years by Joseph Kille, [sic] He sold out to George Schwab. Schwab sold to Ultsch-Max Ferle Company. They sold to Bayer Brewery Company. Only in the very early days was the business successful.
