From the Sullivan County Democrat, Callicoon, New York in June of 1922: BEGIN Harry Ray and Miss Amanda Stoesser were married June 1 at St. Mary's Church in Obernburg. END The following is taken from the "Basket Letters" published by the Basket Historical Society: BEGIN Bill's sister, Amanda, who is organist in St. John's Catholic Church in Walton, married Harry Ray and has lived in Walton some thirty years. Harry being assistant manager of the Breakstone Bros. Milk plant there. The Rays were Sullivan County residents and came to the Basket area from White Sulphur Springs in 1901, moving first to the Holcomb upper farm on Trout Brook, and in 1907 to the Holcomb Acidalia farm. Amanda Stoesser Ray recalled in a Basket letter the first time she heard of the new Ray family. Her father came in one morning and said, 'We have a new man drawing milk with us and his initials are R. Ray - I guess it must be - Ray Ray!' They all laughed at Mr. Stoesser's joke, not thinking Ray would someday be a family name. END
