BEGIN

The town belonged from the early 14th century until 1803 to the State of
Mainz, and from 1803-1814 to the Grand-Duchy of Frankfurt. From 1814 it
was part of Bavaria. The bishops of Mainz also granted the city rights
somewhere between 1317 and 1345.
