Obernheim was until 1805 in the duchy of Hohenberg, under the jurisdiction and
rule of Austria since 1381. Therefore it stayed catholic and even after 1805,
when these formerly Austrian parts were added to the lutheran Wurttemberg,
the people in Obernheim stayed catholic in majority.

p.s. attention there is also another Obernheim in Germany, but in the
Palatinate (Pfalz).
