Peoria Journal Star; Peoria IL; 2009-2-25 Verla M. Kille, age 87, of Galesburg, Ill., formerly of Bushnell, Ill., passed away at 1:42 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, at the Knox County Nursing Home. Verla was born on Feb. 22, 1922, in Bushnell, Ill., to John T. and Sarah Knott Orwig. She married Tyrus G. Kille on Feb. 14, 1942, in Palmyera, Mo. He preceded her in death on June 15, 2001. Verla is survived by three sons, Tyrus Kille of Las Vegas, Nev., Mike Kille of River View, Fla., and Jay Kille of Austin, Texas; along with two daughters, Sherry Westfal of Lincoln, Ill., and Luticia Richards of Oneida, Ill. She also is survived by nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and one sister, Joan Ried of Canton, Ill. She was preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters, two infant children and one grandson (Mitch Puckett). Verla worked in the health care field, working at Heron Nursing Home in Bushnell and McDonough District Hospital in Macomb, and she was a mental health tech at G.M.H.C. in Galesburg, Ill. She was a lifelong member of Royal Neighbors of America. She also was a member of the Bushnell United Methodist Church, and she volunteered at Galesburg Cottage Hospital in Galesburg. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and spoiling her grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, at the Bushnell Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until time of services at the Martin-Hollis Funeral Home in Bushnell. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or the Leukemia Research Foundation.
