April 6, 2007 Joseph John Deckelmann 71 Mechanicsville Joseph John Deckelmann, 71, of Mechanicsville died April 2, 2007, at St. Mary's Hospital in Leonardtown. He was born in Hempstead, N.Y. on Oct. 3, 1935, the son of the late John and Gertrude Deckelmann. He joined the Army at 18 during the Korean War. Upon his return, he began working in the woodworking industry. He moved to Maryland with his family in 1965, eventually moving to Charles County in 1969. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Cella and Betty Baron; and his brother Henny Decelmann; and his grandson, Billy Stone. He is survived by his son John Deckelmann of Mechanicsville; his daughter Debbie Stone of Mechanicsville; his grandchildren, Jason Thompson of San Antonio, Texas, Robert Deckelmann of Mechanicsville and Lori Stone of Mechanicsville; his son-in-law, Bill Stone; and his great-grandchildren, Kyle Edelen, Dylan Edelen and Alyssa Edelen, all of Mechanicsville, and Ryan Thompson of San Antonio, Texas. He was the former husband of Rose J. Deckelmann. Visitation and services were held April 5 at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral home in Charlotte Hall. Interment will be held today, April 6, at 11 a.m. at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham.
