11 Mar 2026 There's something off about Abraham Lake (16.0), John C. Lake (28.0) and his parents, Abraham Lake (109.0) and Elizabeth ------ (109.1). All events took place in Hunterdon County, New Jersey except where noted. The presumed father of Abraham Lake (16.0) is John C. Lake (28.0). See "Who was the father of Abraham LAKE" in Reference->28.txt. The relationship is shown based upon circumstantial evidence. There is no primary/direct evidence showing the relationship. Abraham Lake (16.0) was born 20 Apr 1796 when John C. Lake (28.0) was barely 20 years old (John C. Lake was born 14 Apr 1776). The grandfather, Abraham Lake (109.0), died at the beginning of Apr 1796 or end of Mar 1796 when he supposedly would have been 53 years old. (He may have been older.) Elizabeth ------ (109.1) moved to Georgia shortly after Abraham Lake (109.0) died. Richard LAKE (28.2), perhaps a step-son, lived in Georgia at this time. John C. Lake's (28.0) first marriage was to Abigail KAES (28.1) in c1812 when John C. Lake (28.0) would have been 36 years old and Abraham Lake (16.0) would have been old enough to be on his own. John C. Lake (28.0) died 16 Apr 1854 but the inventory of the estate wasn't made until 22 Jan 1855 and the estate settled 30 Jan 1855. Abraham Lake (16.0) moved away from the area (still in New Jersey) c1827, and moved to Pennsylvania in 1859. The mother of Abraham Lake (16.0) has never been identified. The circumstantial evidence (mentioned above) points to him being the son of John C. Lake (28.0). Could the mother of Abraham Lake (16.0) be a slave of Abraham Lake (109.0)? Is it possible that the biological father of Abraham Lake (16.0) is really Abraham Lake (109.0)? Something that needs weeding out: The first child of Abraham Lake (109.0) and Elizabeth ------ (109.1) is Richard Lake (28.2). Richard Lake (28.2) is said to have been born in 1756. Abraham Lake (109.0) is said to have been born in 1743, and Elizabeth ------ (109.1) is said to have been born in 1745. The 1756 birth of Richard Lake (28.2) doesn't work here. Based upon the marriage of Richard Lake (28.2) to Elizabeth Lanning in 1783 the latest Richard was likely born was 1761 which is still a tad askew.
