He mortgaged 123 acres in 1776, was taxed with John Jr in Amwell in 1780-1786. Taxed as "Capt John" in 1790 on 147 acres. Was trustee of the Locktown School in 1804 and lived not far from there in Delaware Township. Bought and sold various pieces of land. Wrote his will on Dec 25, 1817, which was recorded on Feb 17, 1827. He had these children: Charlotte, Mary, Rhoda, Garret and John. From: KaySFO@aol.com Date: Fri, 26 May 2006 11:01:04 EDT Thank you, Marfy!!! You have given me a heads up on the probable father of the Garret Heath who married Dinah Shearman( Sherman). Garret and Dinah had three children, one a daughter named Charlotte which leads me to conclude that she was named for her Aunt Charlotte (sister of Garret). Garret was born in 1786 and is buried in the churchyard of the Old School Baptist Church in Locktown, along with Dinah. Kay Larsen Date: Fri, 26 May 2006 12:13:17 -0400 From: "Marfy Goodspeed" Yes, I have Garret Heath (15 Aug 1786-11 May 1862) married to Dinah Shearman (6 Jul 1787-20 Feb 1849), and their three children Francis T., Charlotte and Asa H. Heath. The name Charlotte is a nice link. You may have found Garret in the 1850 census, but in case not, here he is: Delaware Census, Garret Heath, age 63, Francis Heath 35, Amy 37 [pg 388 #328-365]. Oddly enough, wife Dinah is said to have died in Kingwood (1849), but Garret died in Delaware Twp (1862). I think I got her death from the Snyder Family Bible, Owned by Mrs. Emma Snyder of Sergeantsville, NJ; copied by Hiram Deats, Nov 1940, Deats Genealogical Files, Snyder folder. From: "Marfy Goodspeed" Date: Fri, 26 May 2006 12:19:16 -0400 Jane or Jean Lake, daughter of Garret and Sarah Lake. The name Jane shows up in deeds as wife of John Heath. And he names her (Jane) in his will, dated Dec 25, 1817. The will of Garret Lake (dated July 30, 1781) gives to his beloved daughter Jane Heath 30 pounds "with what she has already had to be paid in two years after by Decease."
