They did not have any children.   Absalom moved from Hopewell, NJ to Baptistown prior to 1753. He ran a Tavern in Frenchtown during 1769 & was a Tax Assessor in Kingwood Township in 1772. He served as a Quarter Master during the Revolutionary War under Colonel Beavers. He purchased 300 acres of land just below Baptistown prior to 1780.   Absalom's sons Stephen  & Abner moved to Beaver County, PA to homestead in the mid-1780's. In 1787 they used their father's Revoluntionary War Service records to help their father purchase 207 acres of land in North Sewickley Township in Beaver County, PA. Absalom immediately sold  of this land, at cost, to each son where they remained to raise families of their own.  Absalom died near Baptistown, NJ. on August 25, 1809 at approximately 73 years of age. He is buried in the Baptistown Cemetery in Baptistown, NJ. His 3rd wife Ann, died on August 29, 1813 & is buried next to Absolom. I have assumed that the Daniel Lake of the 1706 Staten Island census and the Daniel Lake who died in 1775 at Kingwood, Hunterdon Co., NJ are the same individual based on what is known about other Daniel Lakes of the time, and him naming a son Abraham.  This would make him a grandson of our original Lake immigrant, John Lake of Gravesend and Ann Spicer. The others are suggested by association to William and Johnand their locations but remain unproven. Illegitimate child of William Beezley and Alice Carrington, born in St. George’s Parish, Baltimore: i. JOHANNAH CARRINGTON, b. 2 September 1731; [816] no further record. This younger William was probably the same one referenced in Frederick County, Virginia, as late as 14 August 1785, when the heirs of Joseph Reeder, namely Elyah Reeder and his wife Jemimah of Fauquier County, Jacob Reeder, Stephen Reeder, Thomas Lake and Elizabeth his wife, Thomas Hubble and his wife Mary, and William Grove and wife Elenor, all of Loudoun County, agreed to provide a lease to a tract of land in Frederick County to Josiah Hubert. The land was located “on the drains of the long marsh and Opeckon” and adjoined George Nevell, John Maddin, William Beasley, and John Warford. [817] He was possibly the same William wholater purchased a lot in Losantiville (Cincinnati) in 1789-90, though there is no proof of his relationship other than the fact that John Beezley also settled there at a slightly later period. To start with what we _do_ know.... (1) Mary HARTPENCE (1770-1835) (one of 14 Hartpence siblings) m. Zenas LAKE (1770-1842). (2) Her younger sister, Sarah "Sallie" HARTPENCE (1775-1836) m. Daniel EVERITT Jr. (will proved 1818). (3) Daniel EVERITT Jr. (will proved 1818) had a sister Mary EVERITT (____-aft.1804) who m. John LAKE (____-____). (That would sound to me as though this John Lake is the same generation as Zenas Lake and Reuben Lake -- possibly a third brother or a cousin?) (4) Daniel EVERITT Jr. (will proved 1818) had a brother-in-law Thomas HARTPENCE (1779-1860) [a third sibling of the above-mentioned (1) Mary Hartpence Lake and (2) Sarah/"Sallie Hartpence Everitt.] This Thomas Hartpence had a son John HARTPENCE (1802-1883) who was living with Daniel EVERITT Jr. when the latter wrote his will in 1815. [Possible clue: The Hartpence book cites "Marriage records of Rev. G. A. Hunt of the Bethlehem Baptist Church, Hunterdon Co., N.J." for the 1801 marriage of Thomas "Hotpence" and his wife. Where are those marriage records, and might they list marriage records for any of the LAKES? I realize that it was probably the wife's church and not necessarily also the groom's. The marriage records, wherever they are, presumably do _not_ list a marriage for Zenas Lake and Mary Hartpence, because the author of the Hartpence book obviously had access to the records but has only a "circa" date for the marriage of Zenas and Mary.] (5) The surnames COOLBAUGH, LEQUEAR, OPDYKE (various spellings), and BRAY, all of which appear in the extracts you sent, also appear in the Hartpence book. These families must all have been neighbors. (6) _IF_ a record of the DISTRIBUTION from the estate of Daniel Everitt/ "Evritt" Jr. could be found, it should list the _names_ of the children of Mary Everitt Lake (wife of John Lake). _If_ I'm correct above that the latter John Lake was the same generation as Zenas Lake and Reuben Lake, it's unclear that knowing the names of Mary's children would help us in identifying Zenas and Reuben, but at least more of a family picture might emerge. Do you have any idea, Marshall, of the likelihood that a record of the distribution would exist? (7) The record that George Holdren apparently found of a 1756 will of a John EVERITT listing a John LAKE as a legatee obviously points to a much earlier Everitt-Lake connection than anything listed in (1) through (6). It sounds to me as though George Holdren is snail-mailing the copies to me, and I'm assuming I'll be able to tell from them which of Phyllis D'Autrechy's volumes they come from and what the pages are. If that turns out not to be so, I'll ask him for the specific cites. . . . (9) Another of the 14 HARTPENCE siblings was James HARTPENCE (1765-1826), who had a son Daniel Everitt HARTPENCE (c.1802-aft.1870). The latter received $100 in the will of his uncle Daniel EVERITT Jr. (will proved 1818). (10) A genealogist named Keith Warters KWARTERS@stny.rr.com has a pedigree chart posted at www.rootsweb.com showing Daniel Everett COOLBAUGH (____-____) [who received $100 in the will of Daniel EVERITT Jr. (will proved 1818)] as the son of Cornelius Coolbaugh, Jr., (1789-____) and Margaret Fields (1795-____), and the grandson of Cornelius Coolbaugh, Sr. (1762-____) and Sarah EVERITT (1762-____) [sister of Daniel EVERITT Jr. (will proved 1818)]. So, if correct, it appears Daniel Everitt COOLBAUGH was receiving $100 from his granduncle for whom he was named.
