END Date: Wed, 3 Nov 2004 16:16:54 -0600 From: pjlittle@mac.com BEGIN There was some conflicting information concerning these families until Dorothy K., cleared it up. According to her ms of original Dutch records in N.Y., Classje was the wife of John Abraham Lake. They had one child Jon Lake who was baptized in the DRC at Brooklyn in 1696. Classje parents plus her brother Stoffel and his wife were witnesses. There was a good reason; the brother baptized his son at the same time. Abraham Lott, son of Peter, posted Banns in the DRC and married Geeisje in 1695 and they had Isaac who was baptized in Jamaica, LI, in `1704. Quite ppssibly they were the parents of Abrahams' unnamed son which the Longstreet records show as a baptism for a Peter in 1697. The other children of Lott. were from his second and third wife. There does not appear to be a fourth wife as previously thought. The alleged Will of Abraham Lott lists eight children - including Classje's son John Lake as his own, plus Classje is considered his first wife. Longstreet records list all of Lott's children as belonging to Classje. Longstreet records call Classje both Lake and Lott. DRC records provide baptism records for Lotts children and their mothers in Jamaica DRC. DRC records in Brooklyn prove baptism records for Lake child/children. I think that since either Lake or Lott could have been the parent of Peter, it is quite possible the records were misinterpreted by early researchers. I personally lean toward the child belonging to Lott as there are no males named Pieter in Longstreet or Lake immediate ancestry. END
