Subject: [NJHUNTER] Re: Azuba LAKE (1766 - 1847)

I think the Azuba Lake in this marriage is the daughter of John Lake and Ann
or Anna Dilts, b. 1783. I have a copy of a NJ Chancery Court case involving
a mortgage foreclosure, in which the complaint includes a long recital of
relationships among the defendants, all descendants of the siblings of Mary
Dilts of Raritan Twp. The relevant portion reads:

...subsequent to the death of the said Mary Dilts the said Anne Lake [sister
of Mary Dilts] departed this life, leaving Jacob Lake, Susan Closson,
Jane Fauss, Nancy Sweazey and Azuba Fox, her children and heirs at law;
that subsequently the said Azuba Fox departed this life, leaving Eusign
(?) DeCatur, John DeCatur and Elizabeth Reimer, her children and heirs
at law...

It appears from this that Azuba Fox was married first to a DeCatur, and
had children by him, and then later married a Fox.

This complaint from an 1879 case (William W. Manness v. Mathias C. Dilts et
al., L-18-460-468) involves 36 related defendants originating in Hunterdon
County, and is a gold mine of family information for these Dilts descendants.
