I have an old tintype photograph of Sarah Jane GIRARD HANGER which appears
to have been taken when she was in her 30's or 40's. She is identified as
the wife of Henry H. HANGER. The photograph appears to have been a gift to
Miss Edna HANGER whose name appears on the back of the photograph along
with an order for a 16x20 bust in crayon of the photograph.

Based on limited research I was able gather the following information
regarding Sarah and her family:

Sarah Jane GIRARD or JARRAD was b. 18 Mar 1844 in New Jersey to parents
Jonas JARRAD (1805 or 1810-1882) and Ermina or Aramina “Mina” FLEMING
(1816-1898).  Sarah was one of three children born to this couple including
Mary Ann; Sarah Jane; and Alexander JARRAD, all born between 1839 and 1849.

Sarah married Henry H. HANGER (1840-1911) on 26 Dec 1867 in Logan County,
OH.  The couple had 6 children including Caroline "Carrie"; Loretta; Edna
Blanche; Arthur Garfield; Mollie L.; and Cora HANGER, all born between 1869
and 1888. Sarah died 3 Feb 1896 in Logan County, OH and is buried in the
Fairview Cemetery in West Liberty, OH.
