From: Bonny Campbell BEGIN Saturday, December 18, 2021, 11:01:42 PM PST My ggg aunt Eliza Ann Deen born 1810 in Sidney Twp married James Lake born 1812. James Lake died young in 1856 and Eliza Ann remained widowed. Eliza Ann Deen was the daughter of my gggg grandfather Isaac Deen born 1787 in Canada who died in June 1853. He was living outside of Thomasburgh in Hastings County, Ontario. In his will, Jeptha Bradshaw (husband of Phoebe Lake born 18 Apr 1809) and William Ashley born 1808 in Fredericksburg, Lennox and Addington County, Ontario (husband of Permelia Lake born 29 Dec 1818) were the executors of his estate. Of interest, my Isaac Deen left money in his will to Jeptha and Phoebe Bradshaw's son who was named John Dean Bradshaw. I do not know of any other name for my Isaac Deen. I wonder if his full name was Issac John Dean or John Isaac Deen. I would love to know why John Dean Bradshaw was given that name. Sunday, December 19, 2021, 11:23:06 PM PST I have been studying the Lake documents as well on Randy Saylor's site. My Dean and Acker research was put in there by Randy and his sources have been a great help especially the book of Sidney Twp meetings. So the sister Phoebe of James Lake of 1812 was actually born around 1809 and married Jeptha Bradshaw. I realized that I also had the older one as a sibling of James of 1812 by error and corrected it. Her sister Permelia Lake married William Ashley. If I did not mention it both William Ashley and Jeptha Bradshaw were the executors of my Isaac Deen (taken from his will that was done Apr 1853.) An older Phoebe Lake is the one that married the Smith. Another challenge was who was the Smith that my Issac used as a middle name for his youngest son Jabez Smith born 1813. I assume  Caty Acker was his mother but I have no baptism for him. I only found the baptisms for Eliza Ann Deen and my ggg grandfather. So I have three Jabez Smith Dean in the family. Isaac's son born 1813, my gg grandfather born 1838 and the son of my gg grandfather born 1881. I do agree that middle names were often the wife's maiden name. I also have two Adam Acker Deen in my family, my ggg grandfather born 1811 and my great grandfather born 1871. I do not have proof that Permelia Lake and Phoebe Lake were siblings but feel that it is highly  likely. I wonder if someone has definite proof and confirmed names of his other siblings. I know that my Isaac Deen had at least two wives as his wife was an Elizabeth in Apr 1853 and that she died around  1862 from land record documents. There was an Elizabeth Dean 75 yrs old living in Thurlow at the home of Catherine Lessard. Catherine Asseltine  married a Richard Lessard and he was alive in 1851 census but deceased  before 1861. I think that this daughter Catherine marry Regis Lessard  (Regis probably French for Richard and the census put the family as "Lizard" in some census). John Asseltine also had a daughter Betsy (nickname for Elizabeth) that married David Powers in Kingston. I do not know who the David Powers was. I am related to Mehitable  Smith, daughter of Richard Smith Loyalist who marred Elizabeth Lake That is also on Randy 's site. Mehitable also seen as Hittabold married a James Martin of Thurlow Twp near Latta Mills. James Martin and Mehitable Smith were my gggg grandparents through their son Francis Smith Martin born 1819. I have been trying to determine the parents of Isaac Deen for years. There were early land owners granted land in Adolphustown; a John Dean and a Moses Dean. They were involved with Christopher Peterson. The info also indicated that the certificate for Peterson and John Dean were lost. The info was given to me by the Prince Edward County Archives. There may be more there but nothing is indexed and even prior to Covid, they lacked funds and limited volunteers. I do not know who the John Dean and Moses Dean were. So this is my brick wall. My Dad Floyd  Dean 1934-2020 was a direct male line. END
