5. Adline Gerls. She was born March 20, 1848. She married Samuel P. Trout,
son of Jacob and Elizabeth (Lake) Trout, on November 14, 1863, when she
was fifteen. Sam, who served in Company "F", 24th Regiment, N. J. Vol.,
during the Civil War, was a farmer in Downe Township. Their daughter,
Elizabeth, married John Herr Bailey (140). Adline died on July 8, 1892. Sam
died on January 8, 1914. Both were buried at Haleyville. The Trout Family
Bible spells Adline's maiden name as Gerls. Her name in the very beginning
was FitzGerald. However, it has seen so many mutations that almost any
variation of it would seem acceptable today. I myself have noted over 30
different spellings.
