My gggrandfather, Charles Armstrong was married to two Lake women. #1-wife:
Lucinda Lake (16 Oct.1836) a native of Virgil, NY, dau. of Rev. P.W. & Rebecca
Lake. Her father was a Baptist clergyman. She died 29 Oct 1865. Charles then
married Lucinda's niece, Mary L. Lake (24 Oct 1866) dau. of Beardsley & Mary
(Welch) Lake. Mary L. (Lake) Armstrong died 08 March 1884. Charles & Mary
L. had five children. The eldest, Lucretia (Lulu) is my ggrandmother. My
father, Monroe Lake Hauser (my maiden name) was named after a relative of
Mary L.. His name is Monroe W. Lake, b. 14 Dec. 1843 at Big Foot Corners,
Walworth Co., Wisconsin, son of Levi & Lydia M. Lake. His parents came from
New York in 1842 to Wisconsin. They returned to NY in 1844, remained there
until 1866, when they moved to Harvard, McHenry Co., Illinois. M.W. Lake
married Maggie Lewis 10 Nov. 1868-they had one daughter, Genevieve, b. 16
Oct. 1877. Haven't been able to trace this family back to far yet, but,
thought this might interest you.
