Myers (0.307) in 2005: BEGIN James Force Kishpaugh was baptized as James Force Carshbaugh on June 27, 1813. The 1850 Census for Newton Twp., Sussex, [sic] County, New Jersey, shows that Mary Gray (Guy) Kishpaugh's brother Peter was living with them as was James' father Henry Kishpaugh who was 78 years old in August 1850. James Force died of Chronic Phlebitis according to the Simeon Kishpaugh death certificate. With the deposition when applying for her pension with the State of New Jersey; records, No. 133803, Mary Ann Kishpaugh stated that she had four small children at home. Records at the General Services Administration, National Archives & records Service, certification No. 133803, Union Army; Mary Ann (Gray) Kishpaugh was a pensioneer on the rolls, No. 133803 and was last paid $12 on December 4, 1884. The pension was suspended at that time. The pension was from her son William B. Kishpaugh, a solier with: Company H, 33rd regiment, New Jersey Volunteers. He died June 5, 1865 of Chronic Diarrhea contracted when in service. The book of New Jersey Marriages, 1788-1850. County court records located in Newton, New Jersey has James Force Kishpaugh and Mary Ann Guy NOT Mary Ann Gray. Family tradition holds that Simeon's mother was Algonquin Indian of the Lani-Len nape [sic] Delaware tribe, also according to family tradition she was the one who was half Welsh. Grandma told Linda Myers that she was 4' 11" tall and James Force Kishpaugh was 6' 7". According to the information gathered by Aunt Linda Myers from Grandma Myers and Aunt Hazel Soden, she was probably from the Algonquin, Lenni-Len nape [sic] Delaware Tribe. She used to smoke a clay pipe which she would bake in the fireplace to clean. When clean it would turn white. We are not certain that it was Mary Ann Gray who was part Delaware Indian. An inconsistency that I have discovered is that New Jersey records show that Mary Ann Gray and James Force Kishpaugh were married on October 21, 1843. However, she is listed on the 1840 US Census in the Town of Frankfort as Mrs. Mary Ann Kishpaugh. For descendancy of William Hennschied, the Nixons, Beemers, Wykers, and other related families please look at all of the family narratives, US census records and also the various Register Reports within this book in later chapters. END My note - with regard to the inconsistency noted above it's possible that the marriage was filed with the State on October 21, 1843 but James and Mary Ann were actually married before 1840. Finding a church or justice of the peace record of the marriage could clear up this inconsistency. - MEL
