    George Hess the son of Abraham Hess and Ann (Fisher) Hess, was born
    circa 1798 at Belfast Twp., Bedford Co., PA. He first married Zilliah
    (Akers) Hay, the daughter of Ephraim and Rachel (Hanks) Akers. The family
    resided in Brush Creek Twp., Fulton Co., PA. Eight children were born
    of this union; four of whom we have been able to identify as follows:
    Dennis (D.B.); Oliver, who resided in Goldfield, Wright Co., Iowa;
    Hannah, wife of Marlin Mosure of Bedford Co., PA; Abraham of Bertnam,
    Linn Co., Iowa.. After the death of Zilliah he then married Mary (--?--).
