He owned and operated Hagaman's Tavern with his wife Catherine (Hankinson)
Hagaman. It was located 2 miles north of Pennington. Six years after the
death of his wife, he committed suicide at the age of 49. The tombstones
for he and his wife are no longer standing.

The children of John and Catherine (Hankinson) Hagaman were as follows:

01. Abraham Hagaman (b. May, 15, 1813). He married Sarah Cole. They had a
son Ross J. Hagaman (Jan. 23, 1859-Nov. 6, 1884). mem.# 22446850

04. Joseph Hankinson Hagaman (b. Oct. 25, 1818). He was in the 30th Reg.,
NJ., inf., Co. F. He died in the Civil War during his service.

married Amos Martindell. They had the following children:

08. Thomas Hankinson Hagaman died in service during the Civil War. He
left a widow and two children. A son Emanuel Hagaman and a daughter Mary

Catherine Hankinson Hagaman was the daughter of Thomas and Hannah (Gray)
Hankinson. Beloved wife and mother, greatly respected tavern owner and
landlord. Owned and operated Hagaman's Tavern with her husband.

Catherine Hankinson Hagaman was the second cousin once removed of John
Hankinson; find-a-grave mem.#40605661. John Hankinson built the Monmouth
Plantation Mansion in 1818 in Natchez, Mississippi. Today, Monmouth Plantation
is one of the world's foremost small bed and breakfast inns.

It is rated by USA Today as one of America's Ten Most Romantic Places. In
June of 2011, it was up for sale for $6.9 million. It is privately owned.
