transcription of Records->Deeds->19.39.jpg An indenture conveying land from William Raub and Elizabeth Shackleton to Michael Raub (19.36): BEGIN William Raub & wife } This indenture made the sixth day of June in the to } year of our Lord eighteen hundred and thirty eight Michael Raub Jr } between William Raub and Elizabeth Raub his wife of the township of Knowlton in the county of Warren and state of New Jersey of the first part, and Michael Raub Jr of the township of Knowlton in the county and state of New Jersey of the second part. Wittnesseth that the said party of the first part for and in consideration of two hundred dollars good and lawful money of the United States of America to them in hand well and truly paid by the said party of the second part at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby fully acknowledged, and the said party of the first part therewith fully satisfied contented and paid hath given granted bargained and sold aliened enfoffed conveyed and confirmed, and by these presents doth give grant bargain sell alien enfoff convey and confirm to the said party of the second part and to his heirs and assigns forever all their and equal individual eight part of all and singular that contains piece of land and promises that was set of in the ? of the estate of Michael Raub ? and as the dower right of the widow Anna Raub the mother of the said William Raub and which said dower right is said contain about fifty six acres more or less situate in the township of Knowlton and also is a part of the old homestead farm uppon [sic] which Michael Raub lived at the time of his death, and also the same premises uppon [sic] which Michael Raub Jr now lives together with all and singular the profits and advantages with the appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining also all the estate right title interest property claim and ? whatsoever of the said party of the first part of in and to the same and of in and to every part and parcel thereof to have and to hold all and singular the one eighth part of the above described tract or lot of land and provided with the appurtenances unto the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever and the said William Raub & Elizabeth his wife doth for their heirs executors and administrators covenant and grant to and with the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns that they the said William Raub & Elizabeth his wife are the true lawful and right owner of all and singular the above granted one eighth part of the premises and of every part and parcel thereof with the appurtenances and are now lawfully seized and possession of the same as a good perfect and absolute estate of inheritance in fee simple, and that the same or any part thereof at the time of the sealing and delivery of these presents are not encumered by any mortgage judgement dower recoginance or limitationm or by any incumbrance whatsoever by which the title of the said party of the second part hereby made or intended to be made for the same or any part thereof can or may be changed charged altered or defeated in any way whatever, and also true for the said party of the first part now hath gave right possession and lawful authority ? ? ? sell and convey the said land and free secure and forever defend all and singular the one equal undeivided eighth part of the lands hereditaments and premises hereby granted with the appurtenances unto the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever against the lawful claims and demands of all and every person and persons ? and ? freed and discharged of and from all manner of encumbrance whatsoever - in witness whereof the said William Raub and Elizabeth Raub his wife hath hereunto set their hands and seals this day and year first above written - Signed Sealed and delivered } Wm Raub seal in the presence of } her Isaac S Smith } Elizabeth + Raub seal mark State of New Jersey Warren County, personally appeared before me Isaac S Smith one of the commissioners for taking the acknowledgement and proof of deeds in the County of Warren William Raub & his wife Elizabeth who I am satisfied are the grantors of the written deed who acknowledged they signed sealed and delivered the same for the purposes therein ? and the said Elizabeth being examined privately & apart from her husband acknowledged the signed sealed and delivered the same of her own free voluntary act without any threat fear or compunction of her husband after first making known to them the contents thereof and I being satisfied they were the persons mentioned in the deed as the grantors thereof taken and acknowledged before me this twenty sixth day of June 1838.
