BEGIN JOSEPH LANNING, of Lebanon Township, Hunterdon County, N.J., by his Will dated 15 March 1814 and proved 12 April following, devises to each of his sons, James, Benjamin, John, Nathaniel, and Cornelius, $220; to each of his daughters, Elizabeth and Ann, $220; to daughter Ann also a bed and bedding; to Mary, daughter of John Lanning, $30; to Eliser Ann, daughter of Joseph Lanning Jr., deceased, $30; and appointed David Park and John Strader his executors. The Inventory of his personal estate was appraised at $1,951.101⁄2, dated 2 April 1814 (Abstract published in the N.J. Archives 42: 248). One Joseph Lanning, a pew-holder in the Mansfield Woodhouse Presbyterian Church, Sussex, now Warren, County, N.J., (located just across the Musconetcong Creek from Bethlehem and Lebanon Townships abovesaid), paid 2-15-0 towards the pastor's salary in 1791 (History of Sussex and Warren Co.s, N.J., 1881, p.567). In the D.A.R. Lineage Paper of Mrs. Olin P Smith, now (1971) of Providence, R.I., the name of this Joseph Lanning's wife was stated as Anna, and her death "after 22 January 1808" without reference. Children of Joseph Lanning, as named in his Will of 1814: . . . vi. Elizabeth Lanning died before 1834 in Putnam Co., Georgia. She married in 1783, Richard Lake of Bethlehem Twp., Hunterdon Co., N.J., and they removed thence to North Carolina in 1784, and to Green Co., Georgia, in 1793, where his Will dated 4 Aug 1799 was proved 24 Apr 1800. Their son, Abraham Lake, born in 1784 in Hunterdon Co., N.J., died 2 June 1866 in Monroe Co., Georgia. He married 10 Jan 1810 Elizabeth Acree, who was born 14 Feb 1793 in Georgia, and died 18 Feb 1861 in Monroe Co., Ga. (D.A..R. Lineage Paper of Mrs. Olin P. Smith, abovesaid.)
