JOHN POWELL
WARFORDSBURG -- John Powell, 70, husband of the late Lillie (Beatty) Powell,
Warfordsburg, died at 5 p.m. Monday at the Washington County Hospital after a
short illness.  Born in Fulton County, he was the son of the late John Homer
and Margaret (Lynch) Powell. He was a retired orchard worker and farmer and
lived his entire life in this area.  The deceased was a member and trustee
of Mays Chapel Christian Church.  Surviving are the following children;
Mrs. Geneva Stevens, Carlisle, Marvin Powell, Warfordsburg, Mrs. Guy Ritz,
Warfordsburg, Lloyd Powell, Fayetteville Rt. 1, and John Kenneth Powell,
Upper Strasburg; 24 grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren; one
brother, Martin Luther Powell, Louisville, Ky.; and a sister, Mrs. Mary
Bishop, Hancock, Rt. 1.  Friends may call at the home of the daughter,
Mrs. Ritz, after 7 p.m. today.  Funeral services will be held Thursday
at 1 p.m. at the Mays Chapel Christian Church, the Rev. Coy Foor and the
Rev. Ray Mallow officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
