"Hettie Mary Sipes, 97, of 14627 Cearfoss Pike, Hagerstown, and formerly of
Harrisonville, Pa., died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at Avalon Manor, Hagerstown.

Born May 12, 1904, in Andover, Pa., she was the daughter of the late J. Frank
and Jessie DeShong Hess. Her husband, Baltzer R. Sipes, died in 1970.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Church of the
Nazarene, Harrisonville.

She is survived by two daughters, Ruby S. Dawson of Lima, Ohio, and
Dorcas Souders of Hagerstown; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren;
and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sons,
Leonard Sipes, Fred L. Sipes and Edgar H. Sipes; one sister; two brothers;
and two grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Sipes Funeral Home Inc.,
Harrisonville. The Rev. Willis Swope will officiate.

Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Visitation
will be Tuesday two hours prior to the services at the funeral home."
