E. parsonage on June 6th, Rev. W. H. Stang officiating. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Tuttle, and for several years has been a popular and efficient clerk at Lee Bros' store. Mr. Mittan is the principal of the high school at this place and has made many friends. The young couple kept the affair a secret until an hour before the ceremony, but their departure was enlivened by a merry party of young people. They have the best wishes of their many friends for a long and happy wedded life. END From the Montrose Independent, Montrose, Pennsylvania dated April 11, 1935: BEGIN Beloved South Montrose Woman Dies on Sunday Mrs. Guy Allen, 49, Passes Away After Long Illness. Funeral Yesterday. Mrs. Guy Allen died in her home in South Montrose on Sunday afternoon, April 7, 1935, at 2:30 o'clock. Mrs. Allen had been in ill health for over a year, following an operation which failed to greatly prolong her life, but fortunately she had been able to be about her home until a short time prior to her death. The deceased was a very fine type of womanhood and had numberless friends in the community and where ever she was known. A delightful personality, coupled with rare gifts of mind and heart, endeared her to her family and friends. She will be sadly missed. For many years she was actively interested in local civic and social affairs, and was a member of Susquehanna Grange, South Montrose. Before her marriage her name was Lulu Stevens, a daughter of John and Helen (Wilcox) Stevens. She was born in Auburn township, this county, Sept. 29, 1885. Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Miss Margaret Allen, bookkeeper in the Montrose office of the Commonwealth Telephone Co.; two sisters, Mrs. Faye Swackhammer, of Binghamton, and Mrs. Byron Tewksbury, Dalton, Pa., and the following brothers: Amasa Stevens, Guernsey, Wyoming; Dana Stevens, Rock Falls, Ill.; Perry Stevens, of Lake Winola; Arthur and Bertie Stevens, Ontario, N. Y.; Leo Stevens, Montrose, and Homer A. Stevens, New Milford. The funeral was largely attended yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock, her pastor, the Rev. Roy H. Beane, of Springville, officiating. The floral tributes were especially large and beautiful. Interment was in South Montrose cemetery, the casket bearers, six nephews, being Elmer Tewksbury, Ralph, Lloyd, Milton, Leon and Raymond Stevens. B. H. Randall was funeral director. Allen, South Montrose, died Tuesday, March 21, 1967, at his home. Born October 5, 1887, in Auburn Township, Mr. Allen was a retired farmer. He was a fifty-year member of Susquehanna Grange #74 and a member of the South Montrose Community Church. He is survived by his widow, Grace; a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Bush; two step-sons, Jack and Reid Mittan; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 24, at 11 a.m., from the Bush Funeral Home, South Montrose. The Rev. George Dickinson, pastor of the South Montrose Community Church and the Montrose Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment, South Montrose. Bearers will be M. F. Miller, Carl Johnson, Stephen Johnson, Edward Bush, Edwin Fessenden and Earl Ellsworth. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday afternoon and evening. Allen Mrs. Grace M. Allen, 74 South Montrose, died Tuesday, May 20, 1969 after an illness. She was the widow of Dr. Olin Mittan, a Scranton dentist, and Guy Allen, South Montrose. She was a member of South Montrose Community Church; Post 151, Order of the Eastern Star, and served as a matron for the post. Surviving are two sons, Jack, Orlando, Fla., and Reid, Draunsless, Tex.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Margaret Bush, South Montrose; two sisters, Mrs. Ralph Lake, So. Montrose, and Mrs. Iva Markwick; Trenton, N.J.; eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild. The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m., from the Bush Funeral Home in South Montrose, with services by Rev. George Dickinson, Montrose United Methodist Church. Interment, South Montrose Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday afternoon and evening. END
