transcription of Newspapers->Marriages->3.19.jpg Probably from a newspaper local to Meshoppen Township, Pennsylvania: BEGIN Corcoran-Donlin Wedding A colorful June wedding was held at St. Joachim's church in Meshoppen, Pa., Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock when Miss Nellie Marie Donlin of Meshoppen, formerly of this city, daughter of Mrs. Anna Donlin, became the bride of Richard R. Corcoran of Wilkes-Barre, son of John Corcoran of Lovelton, Pa. The Rev. William P. Sherman performed the ceremony and celebrated high nuptial mass which was sung by Mrs. Henry L. Fassett, assisted by William Thayer and Mrs. E. J. Burke. Mrs. Fassett played the "Bridal Chorus" from "Lohengrin," "O Promise Me" and "At Dawning." The church was decorated with white roses, ferns and mountain laurel. The bride was attended by Miss Marguerite C. Donlin. The flower girls were Jean Burke and Kathleen Thayne. Anthony A. Corcoran, a brother of the bridegroom, was best man and James Donlin of Meshoppen and Paul Hope of Wilkesbarre [sic] were ushers. The bride was gowned in white chiffon over satin with a long tulic veil caught in with a cap of lace trimmed with orange blossoms. She carried a shower bouquet of white bridal roses and lilies of the valley. She also carried a white pearl rosary, the gift of the bridegroom. The maid of honor was attired in robe de style of peach colored taffeta, with a large maline picture hat to match and trimmed with velvet streamers. She carried an arm bouquet of Columbia roses and delphinium. The flower girls were dressed in white crepe de chine frocks trimmed with rosebud wreaths and wore similar wreaths in their hair. They carried baskets of pink roses. A wedding breakfast was served at the Hotel Kennard to the members of the immediate families and a few friends. Later Mr. and Mrs. Corcoran left for a trip on the Great Lakes. For traveling Mrs. Corcoran wore a rose-gray ensemble of crepe Elizabeth with a hat to match. END transcription of Newspapers->Deaths->3.19-2.jpg Probably from a newspaper local to Meshoppen Township, Pennsylvania in April of 1934: BEGIN Richard Corcoran The death of Richard Corcoran which occurred at the Mercy Hospital at Wilkes-Barre on Saturday, April 7, 1934, was uncommonly sad. He was taken violently ill with ulcers of the stomach several days before his death which followed a surgical operation performed on Thursday. He was 35 years of age and had resided in Kingston about 12 years. Mr. Corcoran was born at Stowell and his boyhood days were spent at that place. Mr. Corcoran was manager of one of the important A & P. stores at Wilkes-Barre. The body was brought to the home of his wife's mother, Mrs. Ann Donlin at Meshoppen and funeral was held yesterday morning at the Stowell Cathaloc church with a high mass of requiem and burial took place in the cemetery adjoining by the side of his parents who had preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife who before her marriage was Miss Nellie Donlin of Meshoppen and one daughter, Ann, two years old, also four brothers and two sisters. END transcription of Newspapers->Deaths->3.19.jpg Probably from the Binghamton Press, Binghamton, New York in August of 1987: BEGIN Mrs. Nellie Corcoran of Binghamton Mrs. Nellie (Donlin) Corcoran, formerly of 95 Murray St., Binghamton, died at 10:45 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 1987 at her residence after a brief illness. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard L. Corcoran. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Anne) Taylor, Somers, N.Y.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Binghamton. She was a retired school teacher having taught for over 30 years at the Daniel Dickinson School, Binghamton. She was a member of the N.Y.S. Retired Teachers Association and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Funeral Services will be held from the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. Rev. James J. Fallon, pastor of her church, will officiate. The burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Stowell, Pa. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. END
