Burns, 93, of Montrose passed away on Friday, Aug. 4, at Meadow View Senior Living Center, after a long illness. She was born in Auburn Twp., daughter of the late Andrew L. and Ella (Gill) Burke. She retired from the Elk Lake School District as an elementary teacher and was a member of the Holy Name of Mary Church, the Montrose Women's Club, PSERS and the Elk Lake Education Association. She was a very loving mother. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1965, Edward A. Burns; two brothers, Thomas and John Burke; and sister, Mary Sweeney. She is survived by her two daughters, Ellen M. Burns and Alice B. Walsh, both of Montrose; extended family member, Eugene Trowbridge and his family, nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday from Holy Name of Mary Church with the Rev. Gerard F. Safko celebrating Mass. Interment, St. Bonaventure's Cemetery, Auburn Twp. Memorial donations may be made to the Holy Name of Mary Church, 60 S.
