He was born in Needmore, he was the son of the late Ezra and Dorothy COVALT PECK. He was a blaster for C. William Hetzer, Construction and was a former blaster in the coal mines of West Virginia. He was also a self employed farmer in the Needmore area. He was a veteran of World War I, serving with the U.S. Army as a blacksmith. He was a member of the Christian Church of Petersburg, W. Va. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, past president of United Mine Workers Local in Petersburg and life member of Webster B. Harrison Post 26 American Legion of Hancock. He is survived by his wife, Pearl Ethel POWERS PECK ; one daughter Dolly M. YOST of NEEDMORE; three sons, Calvin W. PECK of Hancock; John J. PECK of Killen, Texas and Ezra R. PECK of Clear Springs; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grand-children. Services were held at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 2 at the Pleasant Grove Christian Church. The Rev. Tay Mallow and the Rev. Delmas Bard officiated. Burial was made in the adjoining church cemetery. Military grave side rites were conducted by Webster B. Harrison Post 26 American Legion, American Legion Post 60 and VFW Post 4019, both of Berkely Springs. The Grove Funeral Home in Hancock was in charge of arrangements.
