E. Church On Wednesday Mrs. Hugh Alexander, 83, died Monday morning at her home in Warren. She had been ill for several years of hardening of the arteries. Death was caused by the infirmities of old age and the shock of the death of her husband, Hugh Alexander, who died on April 9, 1926. Mrs. Alexander was born November 7, 1842, in Stokes county, N. C., to George and Mahala Clampitt. When she was nine years of age her family moved to Indiana, settling on a farm near Warren. She married Hugh Alexander November 23, 1861. The couple moved to a farm near Warren where they resided until they moved into the city. Surviving are the following children: Mrs. Nellie Friar, of Warren, Frank Alexander of Warren, Mrs. Almeda McClure of Warren and Virgil Alexander of Roll, Ind. Thee are three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Alexander was a devout Christian and was a member of the Methodist church at Warren for many years. Funeral services will be held at the Warren Methodist church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. C. A. Wischmier, the Rev. Crabill of the Wesleyan Methodist church and the Rev. C. H. Slusher of the United Brethren church officiating. Burial will be in the Mitchell cemetery near Warren. Dave's note: Charity E. Clampitt (1842-1926) is the d/o Rev. George E. He had been an invalid for eight years, complications having developed form an illness that began with rheumatism. During his long period of invalidism, Mr. Alexander had received the loving care of his aged wife, now in her 83rd year. She was assisted by her children, but she insisted on giving direct personal attention to her beloved husband. Born in Brown County, Ohio, on November 10, 1839, Mr. Alexander was a son of John and Rhoda Thornhill Alexander and at his death was aged 86 years, 4 months, and 29 days. He was only two years old when his parents came from Ohio, and settled in Jackson township, this county, and he was a continuous resident of that township until eighteen years ago, when he retired from active labors and purchased a home in Warren, where he and his wife have resided since. Mr. Alexander was always prominent in the affairs of his home community, and he served two terms as trustee of Jackson township. He had been identified with public affairs both of his home township and the county and with his home town of Warren. His marriage to Miss Charity Clampitt took place November 21, 1861, and she survives, with four children, namely: Mrs. Morgan McClure, of Warren; Virgil Alexander, of Roll; Mrs. Charles Fryer, of Warren, and Frank Alexander of Warren. He was a member of the Warren M. E. church. The funeral services will be held at the Warren M. E. church at 1:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon in charge of the Rev. A. C. Wischmeier, assisted by Rev. C.
