Cochel, graduate of University of Missouri in 1897 with a BA and in 1905, a BS. In 1931, the University would confer upon him an honorary Doctorate. From 1905 to 1909 Prof. Cochel was at Purdue University. He later was at Penn State, where he led the Animal Husbandry department. In 1912, he accepted a position with Kansas State University. Past President of the American Society of Animal Production and the Southwest Representative of the Shorthorn Breeders' Association. Saddle and Sirloin Portrait inductee in 1937. Cochel made large real estate donations to the Episcopal Church and was also known for his work with the Future Farmers of America. Was an editor at the Kansas City Star for 20 years.
