    John T. Garland, 90, Chambersburg, formerly of Breezewood, died
    Monday, December 26, 2005, at ManorCare Nursing Home, Chambersburg.
    He was born July 24, 1915, in East Providence Township, a son of the
    late John A. Garland and Annie (Hanks) Garland.  On October 21, 1936,
    he married Marjorie (Pepple) Garland, and she preceded him in death on
    March 25, 1988.  He is survived by their daughter: Gladys E. Bowman,
    Chambersburg; two sons: Jeremiah "Jerry" W. Garland and wife Bernice
    (Nye) Garland, Newburg; David F. Garland and wife Reiko (Nagamine),
    Stewartstown; four grandchildren: Dale Bowman Jr., Thomas Bowman, Joseph
    Bowman and Mary Kliesch; six great-grandchildren: Ethan, Elliott,
    Joey, Brianna, Zarah and Sondra; and a great-great-grandson, Alex.
    In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his sister:
    Catherine Bussard; twin brothers: Jesse Garland and Franklin Garland;
    half-sister: Martha Stahle; half-brothers: Albert, James and John Ross
    Garland and son-in-law R. Dale Bowman Sr.  He was a lifetime member
    of Union Memorial Church near Mench, where previously he served as an
    ordained deacon, Sunday School teacher, superintendent and also served
    on Union Memorial Cemetery Association Board.  Previously, he and his
    wife owned and operated their own East Providence Township farm. He
    had also worked at Rohm's Feed Mill in Gapsville and then was employed
    with the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission as a maintenance worker until
    his retirement in 1977.  He was formerly a member of Everett Happy
    Senior Citizens and was a loving father and grandfather who will be
    greatly missed by his family and friends.  Funeral services were held
    Wednesday, January 4, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at Union Memorial Church,
    Mench. Rev. M.W. Nesselrodt officiated.  Dalla Valle Funeral Chapel,
    Everett, was in charge of arrangements.  Burial was held at Union Memorial
    Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Garland
    to Union Memorial Church, 226 Dog Valley Lane, Crystal Spring, PA 15536.
