Note:

    Russell B. Akers, 71, of 1 South 2nd St., McConnellsburg, died Wednesday
    July 22, at Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg, after a brief illness.
    He was born on Aug. 28, 1892, at Crystal Springs a son of the late Ellis
    and Edith Jackson Akers. Mr. Akers was a member of the D. P. Church,
    American Legion and the fire company, all of McConnellsburg, and the BPOE
    No. 600, Chambersburg.  Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary F. Akers,
    a daughter Mrs. Sara Garman, of Camp Hill, a son, Robert Akers of
    York, two brothers, James C, of Miami, Fla., and Merle of Johnstown,
    and five grandchildren.  Funeral service was held Saturday afternoon
    at 2:00 p.m. at the Kelso funeral hme in charge of Rev. Benimin Davis
    and Rev. Chas. Zealand. Burial was made a Union cemetery.

    Lt. Richard Akers died of dysentery and malnutrition in a prisoner of war
    camp in North Korea on 24 February 1951. He had been reported missing in
    action on 9 February 1951.  He was the son of Mr. & Mrs. Russell Akers,
    McConnellsburg, Fulton County, PA.
