Thayne, 78, of 6 Andrea Dr., Vestal, formerly of West Windsor, N.Y., died at 9:40 p.m. Monday, October 12, 1987 at his residence after an illness. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Marie (Walsh) Thayne, Vestal; a daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline and James Crimmins, Windsor; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Carol Thayne, Binghamton; two grandsons, James Crimmins, Timothy Thayne; four granddaughters, Marie Williams, Ann Crimmins, Alice Crimmins, Karen Thayne; a great-granddaughter, Michaelene Crimmins; a brother, John D. Thayne, Chenango Bridge; several nieces and nephews; an aunt, Mrs. Winifred Thayne Burke, Meshoppen, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Miss Irene Walsh, Vestal. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church, Vestal. He was a graduate of Binghamton Central High School. He was an accountant for Broome County for 11 years, and was the proprietor of several parking lots in downtown Binghamton for 30 years. Also a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Funeral services will be held from the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Thursday at 10:15 a.m. and at 11 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. The burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. She will join her parents, John and Mary Walsh; her husband, James Edward Thayne; their daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline and James Crimmins; brothers and sister-in-law, Joseph and Alice Walsh, Anthony Walsh, Francis Dodgson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Catherine and James Durkin, Alice and John O'Malley, Dorothy and Thomas McGuinnis, Irene Walsh and brother-in-law, John D. Thayne. Marie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Carol Thayne; grandchildren and their spouses, Timothy Thayne, Margaret McGarry, Karen Thayne and fiance, Bill Palmer, James Crimmins, Marie and Michael Williams, Alice and Jeff Renner and Ann Crimmins; great-grandchildren, Thomas, Mary Louise Thayne, Calen, Alisha and Jack Renner, Patrick, Michaelean, Kattie Crimmins, Rhea, Gena and Sonia Williams, Kelly Mather, Hailey Messenger, Abigail Palmer; sisters-in-law, Lois Thayne and Lorraine Dodgson; cousin-in-law and great friend, Peg Guiton; many nieces and nephews she greatly loved. It was her love and devotion to her entire family that kept her so alive and alert for 96 years. Her life was dedicated to caring for others. She retired after more than 30 years as a registered nurse, at the Chenango Bridge Tuberculosis Sanitarium and as a supervisor of Broome County Chest Clinic. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Windsor and LAOH, Binghamton. Marie was a truly wonderful wife and mother who never had an unkind word for anyone. We thank Dr. Paughter and his staff; Lourdes Home Care, especially DeDe and Marnie; Lourdes Hospice at Home;, epecially Sue, Pam Cindy and Sarah. Special thanks to Maryann, Dorothy, Rita, Shirley and Joyce and all the friends and neighbors at Village Manor apartments. Marie deserved the very best God could give and she was given wonderful granddaughters who loved and cared for her everyday especially when she needed them most.
