From a Montrose, Pennsylvania newspaper in August of 1909: BEGIN Herrick Center - Last Friday, as John Williams was driving a colt down the hill near the railroad, the breaching broke, and the colt ran away, throwing him out and bruising him badly. END From the Montrose Independent, Montrose, Pennsylvania dated December 12, 1935: BEGIN DIMOCK RESIDENT DIES ON TUESDAY John R. Williams, 45, Succumbs to Long Illness. Wife and Nine Children Survive. John R. Williams, aged 45 years, died at his home in Dimock township on Tuesday morning, Dec. 10, 1935. His death followed a long illness from an incurable malady. Deceased was born in Springville township on November 6th, 1890. He had followed farming the greater part of his life and his untimely death is sincerely mourned. He is survived by his wife, who before marriage was Miss Lulu Lake; four sons, Paul, Roger, Russell and Ralph, and five daughters, Marie, Ruth, Eleanor, Helen and Jean, all at home, also his father, Foster Williams, of Factoryville; one brother, Ernest Williams, of Clarks Summit, and two sisters, Mrs. Ray Walton and Mrs. Clayton Proctor, both of Factoryville. The funeral will be held at his late home this (Thursday) afternoon at one o'clock, the Rev. Mrs. Mathis, of Auburn, officiating. Interment will be made in Brooklyn Cemetery. A. H. Williams, 75, a resident of Hampton House Nursing Home for the past several years, died at the Veteran's Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, on May 27, 1993. He was born on August 5, 1917 in Dimock, PA, a son of the late John R. and Lulu Lake Williams, Ralph was a graduate of Dimock High School and a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Army. He was a self employed landscaper working in Freeport, Long Island for many years. He is survived by his siters, [sic] Ruth Hoppe of Albertson, LI, Helen Lott of Newark Valley and Jean Brown of Tunkhannock, PA; a brother, Roger Lake Williams of Cobalt, CT; several nephews and a niece. At his request, there will be no visitation of funeral services. Ralph was a kind and loving person. In his memory, please extend a kindness to someone who may be in a nursing home or confined in their own home. Arrangements are under the direction of the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley. END
