Rose Marriage Takes Place at St. James' Church; Off on Auto Trip Johnson City, Oct. 8--Miss Loretto Agnes Murray, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Murray, 139 Main street, and Carl E. Rose, son of Mrs. Katherine Rose, 18 Mildred avenue, were married at 9 o'clock this morning in St. James' church. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. William H. Purcell, pastor of the church, assisted by the Rev. Joseph M. Vaughn. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore blue transparent velvet, with a turban of velvet and slippers of suede to match. She carried a bridal bouquet of Talisman roses. Mrs. Lawrence A. Wheeler was matron of honor and James Murray, brother of the bride, was best man. The ushers were James J. Farrell and Lawrence A. Wheeler. The matron of honor wore brown transparent velvet with a hat of brown felt and lace. Her slippers were brown suede. She carried a bouquet or yellow roses. The ceremony was preceded by a program of bridal music played by John O'Shea, organist of the church. Mrs. William C. O'Dea sang. Immediately after the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served at the Crary Avenue tearoom to the bridal party and members of the immediate families. Mr. and Mrs. Rose left today on an automobile tour through northern New York and Canada. Upon their return they will reside at 18 Mildred avenue. The couple have been residents of Johnson City for many years and are popular with a wide circle of friends. Mrs. Rose has been engaged as secretary to Father Purcell since he assumed the pastorate of St. James. Rose is one of the leading young business men of the community. He is survived by his wife, Loretto (Murray) Rose, Johnson City; one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Patricia) Eltz, Mercerville, N.J.; one brother, Clarence Rose, Oakdale; seven grandchildren; one great-granddauqhter; [sic] also several nieces nephews & cousins. Member of St. James Church; played High school & Professional basketball in Triple Cities area. Former owner of Mobile Gas Station, at corner of Grand & Burbank Ave. Also salesman on the road for many years. Funeral services will be held at J.F. Rice Funeral Home, Inc., 150 Main St., Johnson City Wednesday, 9:15 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. at St. James where a Mass of Christin [sic] Burial will be offered. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. (Murray) Rose, 91, of Johnson City, died peacefully Thursday morning December 26, 1996 at Ideal Nursing Center. Loretto was predeceased by her husband, Carl E. Rose. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Richard L. Eltz of Vestal, seven grandchildren, Pamela and Timothy Monk, Raleigh, N.C., David L. Eltz, Ewing, N.J., Beth Ellen and David Trotter, Charlotte, N.C., Joseph and Sandra Eltz, Ridgefield, Conn., Julie Camilo, Binghamton, Amy and Dr. John Donovan, Binghamton, and Margaret Eltz, Lexington, S.C.; 15 great grandchildren; and one great great grandson; as well as two brothers-in-law, three nieces; three nephews; and several cousins. Loretto was a life long member of St. James Church, Johnson City, the Catholic Daughters of America, the Altar Rosary Society, and Tabernacle Society of St. James Church, Johnson City.
