Brands, of Blairstown, Warren Co., N.J., and Miss Effie E. Shelp, of Jessup, Susq. Co., Pa. END From the Montrose Democrat, Montrose, Pennsylvania dated February 2, 1928: BEGIN Death of Clark M. Brands Clark M. Brands, a prominent farmer of Forest Lake township, died at his home on Sunday, Jan. 29, after a long period of ill health. Mr. Brands was for many years a stock buyer and was widely known throughout the county, and his death is learned with deel sorrow. He would have reached his 63d year this March. The funeral was held at his home yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock and the body will be taken to Blairstown, N.J., for interment. Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Dr. George Brands, of Detroit, Mich., and Harold, residing at home. A more extended account will appear later. END From the Montrose Independent, Montrose, Pennsylvania dated February 9, 1928: BEGIN Clark M. Brands, a prominent farmer of Forest Lake township, passed away at his home on Sunday, Jan. 29, 1928, having been in declining health for several years. Mr. Brands was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wm. C. Brands, of Blairstown, N.J., and spent his early life in that locality, coming to Montrose about thirty-four years ago. He was engaged in farming and stock business and was widely known throughout Susquehanna county. October 8, 1890, he was married to Effie Shelp, who survives him. Besides his wife he leaves two sons, George, who is a dentist in Detroit, Mich., and Harold, who lives at home; also two sisters, Mrs. Mary Kishpaugh, of Blairstown, N.J., and Mrs. Harry Shuler, of Washington, N.J. He would have been 63 years old in March. Brief services were held at his home on Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock. The body was then taken to Blairstown, where funeral services were held in the M. E. church at 2:30 on Thursday and burial in Cedar Ridge cemetery, where Puriton Lodge I.O.O.F. of which Mr. Brands had long been a member, conducted impressive services. END From the Montrose Independent, Montrose, Pennsylvania dated May 19, 1955: BEGIN Mrs. Clark M. Brands Mrs. Effie E. Brands, 85, died after a long illness in the home of her son, Harold Brands, near Fairdale, on Saturday, May 14, 1955. Mrs. Brands was a native of Jessup township, where she was born on Oct. 22, 1871. Her husband, the late Clark M. Brands, died some years ago, and besides the son mentioned she is survived by another son, Dr. George Brands, of Detroit; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Brands was a resident of Jessup township and Montrose for many years and was loved by many friends who mourn her passing. She was active in the Methodist Church many years. On Monday evening members of Montrose Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, conducted a service in the Bowen Funeral Home, where the funeral service was held on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. her pastor, the Rev. F. W. Connell, officiating. Burial was in Cedar Ridge Cemetery, Blairstown, N.J., in the family plot. Pallbearers were Louis Wilson, Charles Daly, Earle Griffis, Leo B. Lamb, John Wilcox and Floyd Summers. END
