Curious about your Mott line I did a little research last night in the censuses at family search. org.  Milton W. Mott in the 1900 census for Hardwick Twp, Warren Co, NJ was living with his father William L. Mott 64 and wife Catherine M. Mott 61.  Could this be your elusive set of parents?  To go back a little further in 1870 census in Hardwick, Warren Co. NJ William L. Mott 35 was living with his wife Catherine M. Mott 32 on another portion of the same farm as Jacob S. Mott 58 and Sarah Mott age 50.  Jacob's a retired farmer net worth about $14,000.  I think William L Mott more than likely took over the running of the farm and may quite likely be Milton W. Mott's father.  Is Blairsville anywhere near Vail, NJ for in the 1930-1940 censuses Milton W and Lizzie (Elizabeth?) L Mott are counted in the Blairtown part of Warren Co.  Also did they have an adopted son named Howard K Mott? Next I went to the NJ Digital Archives and found more earlier NJ Motts living primarily in the Northern part of NJ in the early 1700s.  Now I've spent years untangling my husband's RI Motts from the Hempsted, Long Island Motts.  One of the earliest records in the NJ Archives is a land transaction from 1714 between an Adam Mott and Thomas Mott.  My husband's Adam Mott and descendants were firmly in place in RI at that time and not very mobile, yet.  So this leads me to suggest that Milton's Mott line most likely descends from the Adam Mott line of Hempsted, Long Island, NY Motts.  Linda Date: Mon, 11 May 2015 16:18:51 -0700 From: Linda Mott 1900 census for Hardwick, Warren, NJ  (viewed the original image at family search. org.)      Milton W.
