AIKEN, S.C. - Mrs. Eleanor Atwater Cool, 89, wife of the late William H. Cool,
died November 2, 2008 at Shadow Oaks. Graveside service will be Wednesday
at 10:00 AM at Aiken Memorial Cemetery with funeral services following at
11:00 AM at St. John's United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. George
K. Howle officiating. She was born August 31, 1919, in West Pittston, PA,
to the late Oscar and Elizabeth Neat Atwater. Mrs. Cool has lived in Aiken
since 1952 , In addition to her role as wife and mother, she was employed
with the Aiken County Board of Education as an Administrative Assistant. She
was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church and was a member of the
Professional Educators Organization, Town and Country Club, and Houndslake
Garden Club. Survivors include her daughter, Dianne C. (Andrew J.) Hertneky;
son, William "Bill" (Rosalie) Cool; grandchildren, Lt. Cdr. Jeffrey E. (Amy)
Seigler, Alison Athay, Bryan (Amy) Cool; great-grandchildren, Taylor Cool,
Chrislyn Cool, Dylan Cool, Adam Seigler, Owen Seigler, Claire Seigler,
Luke Seigler, Oliver Athay; and sister, Ruth Kennedy of Pennsylvania. In
lieu of flowers please send memorial contributions to St. John's United
Methodist Church, 104 Newberry Street NW, Aiken, SC 29801. The family will
receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Shellhouse Funeral Home,
