Maxwell of Meshoppen, Pa., announce the coming marriage of their daughter, Mary Alice of Johnson City, to Frank DeVerne Hackett, son of the late Frank D. Hackett and Mrs. Hackett of 28 Carhart Avenue also of Johnson City. The wedding will take place February 11 at St. James Roman Catholic Church. The ceremony will be performed by the Rev. Robert Donovan. Miss Ruth Maxwell, sister of the bride, will be maid of honor. Joseph Maxwell, brother of the bride will be best man. The couple will reside at ? Carhart Avenue. Miss Maxwell is a graduate of Auburn Center and Meshoppen High School also from Lowells Business College of Binghamton and for the past five years has held a position in the office of the Agla Ansco Co. of Binghamton and has many friends here and at Auburn Center who join in wishing her success. Hackett, 87, of Vestal, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, July 11, 2002 at the Ideal Nursing Facility, Endicott. He is survived by his devoted wife and best friend of 60 years Mary, Vestal; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Ed Prince, Mary Agnes and Pete Schmitt, all of Vestal; three sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Susan Hackett, Mercer Island, Wash., Gerry and Debbie Hackett, Apalachin, and Terry and Mary Hackett, Stevens Point, Wis.; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. Frank was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Vestal. When he retired from IBM after 30 years as an engineer, he loved to travel the country in his travel trailer with his best friend, Mary, at his side, while talking on his CB and ham radio, using the call letters WB2LCN, making new friends along the way. In later years, he was one of the Mall walkers. Funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Coleman Daniels Funeral Home, Inc., 765 Main St., Vestal and 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Charles St., Vestal, where a funeral mass will be offered. Hackett, 86, of Vestal passed away peacefully in the arms of the Lord, Friday, July 25, 2003 at the Ideal Living Center. She was predeceased by her husband and best friend, Frank, who she has now joined in Heaven. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Ed Prince, Mary and Pete Schmitt, both of Vestal; three sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Susan Hackett, Mercer Island, Wash., Gerry and Debbie Hackett, Apalachin, Terry and Mary Hackett, Stevens Point, Wisc.; 11 grandchildren, Jim Prince; Jody Lasky, Andy, Stephen and Mary Alice Hackett, Sarah, Jessica, Rebekah, and Maggie Schmitt, Michael and Meghan Hackett; three great-grandchildren, Zach Prince, Eaan Hackett and Abigail Lasky; two sisters, Dorothy Place of Endicott and Ruth Choquette of Mass., also many special nieces and nephews. Mary was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Vestal. She was a loving, supportive mom, grandma, sister, aunt and friend all rolled into one big-hearted being who would drop whatever she was doing and come to your rescue whenever called upon by anyone who needed help. Every morning after attending 6:30 Mass, she would head to the mall. As one of the long time mall walkers, she enjoyed visiting with her many friends and swapping tales of childhood, favorite recipes and craft ideas over a cup of coffee. She will be missed by many as she was loved by all. Mary was a member of a craft group called "The Stitch and Bitch." Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2003 at 9:30 a.m. at Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, Inc., 765 Main St., Vestal and at 10 a.m. at Our Lady if Sorrows Church, Charles St., Vestal, where a Funeral Mass will be offered.
