James was born on September 26, 1883 in Webster County, Kentucky and died in 1904 or 1905 in Sikeston Township, Scott County, Missouri. James was shot and killed in an apparent crooked card game supposedly set up by his father-in-law so that he would be killed. His father-in-law and his brothers-in-law did not like him too well. According to Edmond Gilland, if he hadn't got shot in Missouri he would have got killed when he came back to Kentucky. James married Anna Bell Curry in about 1901 in Kentucky. Anna was born in 1885 in Livingston County, Kentucky, died in 1949 in Livingston County, and is buried in Goodhope Cemetery, Livingston County. Anna almost died in the wagon coming back to Kentucky after James was killed. This was according to Carrie Fryar McKeel. (1.761) Children: i.
