From the Patriot-News, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania dated June 16, 2008 and June 17, 2008: BEGIN Marjorie Kishpaugh Pool, M.D., 88, of Bethany Village, Mechanicsburg, PA, died on June 14, 2008, at Harrisburg Hospital, after a brief illness. Born in Pittsburgh, on December 2, 1919, she was the daughter of the late William and Irma Kishpaugh, and was raised in Hershey. She graduated from Hershey High School, attended Duke University, and graduated from Lebanon Valley College. In 1944, she received her medical degree from the University of Maryland. Dr. Pool completed her internship and pediatric residency in Pittsburgh, and then joined the staff at the former Polyclinic Hospital in Harrisburg during 1948. She changed to courtesy staff at the hospital in 1953, and remained in that status until retirement from medicine in 1979. Dr. Pool volunteered her services to the Polyclinic Pediatric Clinic and to the City of Harrisburg Well-Baby Clinic for numerous years. She also consulted with the Visiting Nurses Association. She was a bright, articulate and refined woman, who entered the medical field at a time when female physicians were still rare. "Marty" is the widow of the late Champe C. Pool, M.D., a local orthopedic surgeon, whom she met while both attended medical school. She is preceded in death by a sister and three brothers. She is survived by a sister, Dorothy "Bobbie" Baum, of Ohio, and three sons, James, of Wellsville, Clark, of Baltimore, and William, who resides in Harrisburg, and their wives. Marty has six grandchildren. Along with her husband of sixty years, Marty was an avid pilot. She flew her own airplane on family trips, and in women's transcontinental air races during the 1960s and 1970s. After retirement, she and her husband traveled throughout the world, but they were most at home at their vacation residence, located next to an airport near Wellsville.
