Fred was employed as a dyer in a silk dying plant (1930 United States Federal Census, Enumeration District 21-3, Town of Belvidere, Warren County, New Jersey, sheet 13B, 15 April 1930). He married first, after 1930, Grace Bellis, the daughter of Harry Bellis and Helen Mitsch. This marriage ended in divorce. James married second, Hazel (Last name unknown) (Allen 2001).
