She was born October 2, 1921, in Meshoppen, Pa., the daughter of James D. (Jay) and Alice (Quinn) Smith. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, James E. Mahon; one sister, Mary Becker; three brothers, Joseph, John and James Smith. She is survived by her four children and their families, Kathleen and James Tiffany, Tucson, Ariz., John and Beth Mahon, Rhinebeck, N.Y., Anne and Chuck Kveragas, Friendsville, Pa., Patricia and Mark Smith, Montrose, Pa.,; nine grandchildren, Kelly Goldsmith and her husband Chris, Shaun Tiffany, Ryan Kveragas, Derek, Emily and Jay Smith, Patrick, Colin and Jessica Mahon; two great-grandchildren, Katelyn Kveragas and Torin Miner; sister-in-law and husband Mary Alice and William Donlin, Montrose, Pa. Rose Ann was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was dearly loved by all of her family. She was always available and spent much of her time helping others. She extended a hand of friendship and warmth to everyone around her. She graduated from Meshoppen High School in 1939 and then from Lackawanna Business College. She was a bookkeeper for many years for Beach Manufacturing, Bendix Corporation, and Montrose Publishing. She was a devoted parishioner at Holy Name of Mary Church in Montrose and was also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She belonged to several organizations, the Montrose Civic League, Women's League, BPW and was a 4-H leader for the local Montrose Horse Club, Bits and Bosals. She was an avid golfer belonging to the Montrose Club for many years. She enjoyed helping with the junior program and also planning events and playing in the Women's League. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2003, at the Holy Name of Mary Church, with Father James R. Nash officiating. Interment will be in the Holy Name of Mary Cemetery. Visitations will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday at the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home. A Prayer Vigil will be held at 6:30 p.m., Friday.
