Peter Robbins was in Athens twp in 1830? Date: Sun Mar 7, 2010 2:15 pm ((PST)) A while back I put a Early Orange County Will of Job Robbins Of Wallkill and a list of his children. Reading over the same information, I thought perhaps, someone may find the following information interesting. Children Cornelius, Gilbert and Robert Sterrit Robbins stayed in the Wallkill area. Son John [D.1826] who married Elizabeth Crane [d.1836] and may have settled in the Waverly-Barton-Athens area, at least it appears that their son Job was there in the 1850 census. Jonathan was there, and his wife [Miriam Quick] died in Barton in 1840 and is buried in Factoryville cemetery in E. Waverly. According to the History of Waverly, pg.62 Jonathan Robbins was among the first settlers on West Hill during the period 1830-1835. The first farm was cleared by Jonathon Robbins and next by Charles Robbins... At least two of Jonathan's children were born while he was in Tioga Co. Sela Mathias and Mary Jane --he also had a Gilbert, lewis and a Fanny. After his wife died, Jonathan left for W. Virginia, where he died. Charles left the area and went to Ohio. Back to old Job, his wife was Sara Seeley [b. Stillwater, NY] and his second wife Miriam Brown. I don't know if Peter's mother was Sara or Miriam, It is known that John, Mathias, Jane and Charles were children of Job and Sara. Job was born in New Jersey in 1756. I believe, Peter, son of Job was my ancestor. I am looking for a birth or death record of Peter. His wife Abigail remarried a Mason Grover and moved to Wi. before 1853 when Caroline Robbins married and her father was listed as Peter Robbins. She was sixteen, as her Mother had to sign. I hope this isn't more information then you wanted to know. Peter and Abigail had a James and Edward also. I appreciate your help. I may have missed this information if you mentioned it in another posting. From: Robbinsfamilysouthjersey@yahoogroups.com on behalf of Shirley Hawley [robins.shirley@yahoo.com] Sent: Sunday, February 14, 2010 10:31 AM Yes, I had posted this earlier and received a answer from another member, who had the book with the same will posted below. I don't know if anyone has DNA testing from this Job Robbins, so that is my question? I am fairly sure my ancestor is Peter Robbins, confirmed by a marriage of his daughter. The Job Robbins will listing a Peter Robbins as a son, is looking like the right time and location. Peter had a wife Abigail and sons, James and Edward, a daughter Caroline who married a Fairbanks in 1853 in Wi. that I know of. In the 1870 census in the township of Fox Lake, Dodge Co., Wi., Edward was born in the state of NY. and he was 34 years old, his wife, daughter Wi, son Wi. and Grover, Abigail 68 also born in the state of NY. I believe that Abigail had remarried and was Edward's Mother. Edward is my ancestor. The Dodge Co. records burned, which is making my search difficult. END
