Declaration Of Soldier for War of 1812 Pension Posted by: "turkeypt2" july37@cox.net turkeypt2 Date: Wed Oct 7, 2009 1:53 pm ((PDT)) BEGIN Moses Robins State of Ohio 1871 County of Ashtabula On this 24th day of April A.D. one thousand eight hundred and Seventy One, personally appeared before me B.T. Culling Judge of the probate Court a court of Record within and for the county and State aforesaid Moses Robbins aged 84 years a resident of Trumbule County of Ashtabula State of Ohio who being duly sworn according to the law declares that he was married; that his wife's name was Rebecca harden to whom he was married at Middlesex County, New Jersey on the 17th day of August 1808. That he served the full period of sixty days in the (1) Military service of the United States in the war of 1812, that he is the identical Moses Robbins who (2) was drafted in Captain James Cook's company, Light House Cavalry, at Hydestown, N.J. on the ... day of August 1813, and was honorably discharged at South branch N.J. on the same day of September 1813; that (3) that after being discharged at the expiration of 30 days he re-enlisted in the same Co. and served 40 days longer and was discharged on November 1813. That his Colonel's name was F. Relinghuysen. That he at no time during the late rebellion against the authority of the United States, adhered to the cause of the enemies of the Government, giving them aid or comfort, or exercised the functions of any office whatever under any authority, or pretended authority, in hostility to the United States; and that he will support the Constitution of the United States; that he is not in reciept of a pension under any previous act; that he makes this declaration for the purpose of being placed on the pension roll of the United States, under the prevision of the act approved February 14, 1781, and he hereby constitues and appoints, with full power of substitution and revocation, Miles B. Stevens of Cleveland Ohio his true and lawful attorney to prosecute his claim and obtain the pension certificate that may be issued; that his post ofice is at Trumbull County of Ashtabula State of Ohio that his domicile or place of abode is same place.
