Date: Fri, 10 May 2013 16:47:36 -0400 From: "Pamelyn" Do you mean Gabriel's mother Amy Wolverton Aller (1780-1844), or his sister Amy Aller (1820-1879) who married John Rake Swallow in 1843 then moved to Topeka Kansas where they both died? Or another Amy Aller? Assuming Amy Wolverton, then naming conventions are a good clue, particularly her second son Gabriel W. Aller especially with the middle initial of "W". So I would look at Gabriel Wolverton b. ca. 1755-1757, d. 1835, who married before 1775 Catharine Murray. Supposedly Gabriel was the son of Joel Wolverton and Elizabeth Robins (b. Hunterdon Co ca 1722, dau of John & Eleanor Robins). Gabriel & Catharine (Murray) Wolverton's children were Jonas, Elizabeth, John, Joel, Sarah A., Amy, Gabriel, William, Job, and Rachel Wolverton. There are a number of undocumented genealogies of the children of Gabriel Wolverton/Woolverton on the internet, probably with a little bit of truth in each but none seem to mention Amy as the wife of Peter Aller. In 1793, Gabriel Wolverton was a member of the Amwell Militia (Norton, p. 181). If Amy Wolverton Aller was outstanding in some way, would you share it? She was named as the wife of Peter in the guardianship records of his younger children under age 21 after his death in 1828. [D'Autrechy, More Records of Old Hunterdon County, Vol. I, p. 88.]. From my notes under Amy: Her death notice appeared in the Hunterdon Democrat issue of June 26, 1844 stating she died at her residence near Flemington, on Monday last, 24th instant, in the 64th year of her age. This disagrees with the date of June 21, 1844 on her tombstone at the Flemington Baptist Churchyard. Her will, dated May 22, 1844, indicates that she resided in the Township of Raritan and that she had twelve surviving children. Most are unnamed except two sons, John Aller and Gabriel W. Aller. She mentions two daughters of John Aller: Margaret Aller and Eliza Aller. Of the children of son Gabriel W. Aller, she mentions his two sons: Joseph Aller and James Aller, [note his dau Caroline was born a year later]. She also mentions her son-in-law, Jacob Bearder. Witnesses to her will were James Hoagland and Jacob Painter. Jacob Bearder was the husband of Jane Aller (1815-1886). Marriages for most of Amy Aller's children are listed in Deats' marriage records, 1795-1875.
