New Jersey Supreme Court 1784 case #34906 BEGIN New Jersey Sup Court April 1784 The State ag Peter Dilts, Jacob Housell, Peter Dilts (son of John), John Bodine Junr, Tunis Hoppach, Jacob Godown, Thos Lake Junr (son of John), Lowman Sarjant, Henry Vandolen, Willm Case, Matthias Sharp & John Sharp Indictmt for a riot and an assault and battery on Dan Fulling & Mary his wife - A true bill Henry Reinshagen Newman Witnesses Danl Fulling & wife George Willson James Larew Joseph Larew James West Hunterdon - The Jurors for the State of New Jersey upon their oath present that Peter Dilts late of the Township of Amwell in the County of Hunterdon labourer Jacob Housell late of the same labourer, Peter Dilts (son of John Dilts) late of the same cordwainen, John Bodine the younger, late of the same labourer, Tunis Hoppach late of the same farmer, Jacob Godown late of the same labourer, Thomas Lake the younger (son of John Lake) late of the same labourer, Lowman Sarjant late of the same blacksmith, Henry Vandolen late of the same farmer, William Case late of the same farmer, Matthias Sharp late of the same farmer and John Sharp late of the same farmer ? forth day of January seventeen hundred and eighty four, with force and arms at the township of Amwell aforesaid in the County aforesaid, did unlawfully routously and riotously assemble and gather together to disturb the peace of the said State - and so being then and there assembled and gathered together in and upon one Daniel Fulling and Mary his wife in the Peace of God and of the said State then and there being unlawfully riotously and routously did make an assault and then the said Daniel Fulling and Mary his wife then and there unlawfully riotously and routously did beat wound and ill treat, and other wrongs to the said Daniel and Mary his wife then and there unlawfully riotously & routously did - to the great damage of the said Daniel and Mary his wife - and against the peace of the State of government and dignity of the same - and the jurors aforesaid upon their oath aforesaid do further present that the said Peter Dilts, Jacob Housell, Peter Dilts (son John Dilts), John Bodine the younger, Tunis Hoppach, Jacob Godown, Thomas Lake the younger (son of John), Lowman Sarjant, Henry Vandolan, William Case, Matthias Sharp and John Sharp on the said forth day of January in the year of our Lord seventeen hundred and eighty four with force and arms at the Township of Amwell aforesaid in the County aforesaid in and upon the said Daniel Fulling and Mary his wife in the peace of God and of the said State then and there being - an assault did make and this on the said Daniel and Mary his wife then and there did beat wound and ill treat, and other wrongs to the said Daniel and Mary his wife then and there did - to the great damage to the said Daniel and Mary his wife and against the peace of this State the government and dignity of the same.
