Jonathan served in the Regiment under Col. Jonathan Hoyt, of Capt. Perez Fitch's Company. Brothers Silas (1735-1763) and Abraham (1737-1812) were also in same company but survived. The bloody campaign for Fort William Henry at the foot of Lake George carried on from 3 August to 9 August 1757. Daughter Susannah was born posthumously probably in May 1758. “Susannah, daughter of Rachel, widow of Jonathan, baptized 16 June 1758” (Stamford First Congregational Church, Vol. 3, p. 66). The death year of 1788 for Jonathan where it is noted he was age 40, was lifted from Stamford records and published in A Scofield Survey confusing the father’s death with his son’s death. Further Stamford records do not reveal a remarriage or death of Widow Rachel Scofield.
